Gardens For Ohio’s Bicentennial

The year 2003 is Ohio’s Bicentennial. Creating a garden reminiscent of earlier times can be beautiful and nostalgic. The American version of the charming English cottage garden has sometimes been referred to as “grandmother’s flower garden”. Old-Fashioned varieties were often shared between friends and neighbors. Vigorous varieties were divided and spread around, giving ribbons of repetitious color at a single blooming time. Gale’s Westlake salutes this event with plants that reflect Ohio’s rich horticultural past. Look for special tags on Ohio historical plants in our nursery and greenhouses.
